A huge topic that I want to bring up, coming off of a few events this past week, is that you shouldn’t be doing things that don’t make you happy. I recently got back from a brand-building event in Nashville with a company we work with called Brand Builders, as well as Lewis Howes’ Summit of Greatness event in Columbus, Ohio. I was able to spend time with my brother and a very close friend from high school as we digested inspirational content from so many great speakers and leaders. I get so much from these events as they’re filled with so much energy, intention, ideas, and passion. These are just a couple of examples of things that get me extremely revved up and excited about. If something doesn’t give you joy or satisfaction on a daily basis then you shouldn’t be focusing on that because life is too short. We need to find a way to always be energized, motivated, fulfilled, and in our passion.

This will help you best deliver your unique value in a way that fulfills and motivates you. This isn’t always easy. Sometimes we’re stuck in jobs that we don’t love, or we’re on a career track that’s not long term. Maybe where you’re at is only a stepping stone to get to where you ultimately want to be. What I want everybody to do today is sit back and evaluate what you’re doing to further your purpose and your vision. Make sure this aligns with your vision.

Find What Motivates and Inspires You

Sometimes we need to reinvent ourselves and get re-energized about the same work we’ve been doing for a while. Find a new level of inspiration and motivation that works for you. We can do that even in a position or a job that we’ve been in for years or decades. Sometimes it’s approaching your job in a different way or finding joy in the smaller things. Maybe this is connecting on a deeper level with clients and customers. These are the same tasks you’ve been doing, but finding a way to get excited about doing them.

Then there’s the other side of the spectrum, where you might be doing something that’s not really your passion, it simply pays the bills. Start putting daily thoughts and efforts into finding a way to transition out of this. Find the intersection of what you’re good at with what your passion is. That’s where you want to build a career. These endeavors exist out there, but we only truly know what they are after we do some inner searching. One of the things I teach is to understand your strengths, weaknesses, and unique value proposition, and then create a career, or job, or business around that. This is a surefire way to make sure you are excited and passionate about what you do on a daily basis.

So that’s my message I wanted to share. Find ways to get excited and motivated about your work. Find ways to reinvent yourself in your current position. Find ways to move closer to your ideal career or job. If you’re not there now, realize that you owe it to yourself and you deserve to be happy, passionate, fulfilled and motivated every day.

Hopefully this helps motivate you today.
