Identity.
The dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual.
Yet so many different things go into establishing and defining each of our unique identities.
It’s a lifelong manifestation of our thoughts, beliefs, values, goals, words and the consistent accumulation of our actions and experiences.
I think a lot of people, especially in our society today, strive for an identity that might not be consistent with who they truly are.
There’s so much societal pressure growing up, at home, in school, in peer groups and everywhere else in the media that pushes us to act a certain way.
Just think of how many friends and people you know who might have achieved outward success as defined by society, parents, or friends, but are not really happy or inspired as individuals?
I know so many people like this.
What does it even mean to be successful?
I think we need to define success and who we are as individuals, and not let the world define it for us.
For me personally, I think success is reaching a point where you are able to do what you love on your terms and know exactly why you are there.
When you know your purpose in the world, you can deliver that value and serve humanity in an intentional way each day.
When you reach this station in life and are good at what you do, all of the wealth, accolades, health and outward trappings of success will flow to you as a result—not as a cause.
We need to realize that each of us has a unique ability to deliver our experience and values to the world once we embrace our individual identity and push that energy out to the universe.
Each and every one of us has a chance to do amazing things here on this earth.
We serve others to impact people we engage with daily and leave a legacy of service and influence.
So, let’s make sure we have fun today, dress up, get out there, choose an identity and enjoy ourselves in this life that we influence.
Let’s make sure that we are proud and being true to our self and our identity in the way in which we show up and serve the world each day.
Here’s a quote that I find to be very powerful for you to ponder today:
Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words.
Mahatma Ghandi
Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior.
Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits.
Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.
Let’s GO!
